Goal

From a design perspective, our objective was to offer clear and intuitive feedback to the user (surgeon), indicating the sequence of tasks, the current task being performed, the status of the current task, and a history of completed tasks. This is crucial during system setup, guided incision, bone preparation, and ultimately implant placement phases of the procedure.

System Setup

At this stage, we provide the user with visual feedback to properly position the infrared camera, ensuring all IR trackers are fully visible to the system. Subsequently, the robot is optimally positioned to ensure its arm reaches all incision points effectively.

Guided Incision

We inform the user (surgeon) about the current task, specifically to register the system for guided incision. The user employs a probe equipped with IR reflectors to help the system pinpoint the skin's location and determine the optimal incision site before proceeding to bone preparation.
