Treatment Design 1.0 (TKA, THA)

Executive Summary

As the sole UX designer on this Stryker program, I replaced a costly third-party segmentation tool with an in-house workflow purpose-built for Mako-assisted TKA and THA planning. The key tradeoff was balancing automation against surgeon trust, validating each automated step before removing it from the manual workflow. The result: surgical segmentation time dropped 75%, from roughly 60 minutes to 15 minutes per case.

Purpose

The Treatment Design Application 1.0 is a software application that aids the user in performing the pre-operative planning process for Mako-assisted TKA and THA procedures. As the sole UX designer on this program, I owned the end-to-end design strategy, replacing a costly third-party segmentation tool and reducing surgical segmentation time by 75%, from approximately 60 minutes to 15 minutes per case.
